Dealing with a Small Living Room

If your living room is small it can have its advantages. It will be cozy and easy to heat in winter. It makes a wonderful intimate space that you can’t achieve in a huge room and of course it is less expensive to decorate as you need less carpet, less wallpaper and less paint! However, you also do not want to emphasize the size of a tiny room so here are three ways to make the most of your space:-

1. Check Sizes

You will need to avoid buying large furniture for your living room. Even though over-sized coffee tables and giant corner sofas may be in vogue, they are not for you. Do not buy anything without checking how it will fit into your small room. The problem is that furniture stores are generally huge and so everything appears smaller and “just right”. But once you get that huge sofa home and can hardly move in your small living room you will regret it. You need to be able to not only get the item into your room but also walk around it and your other furniture if you space is not to look cramped.

2. Keep the Decoration Simple

A neutral color scheme works best in a small room. Choose plain flooring and cream walls and sofa and then add impact with accessories. A simple round floor rug at the center of your seating area in a bright color or one wall of colored wallpaper or an unusual curtain fabric along with the odd throw and cushion are quite enough to add interest in a small room as far as decor goes.

3. Get Rid of Clutter

Anything lying about the room and blocking the flow of movement and vision is likely to make your room seem smaller. Keep floors as clear as possible and try and keep things tidied away leaving other surfaces clear too if possible. Dual use furniture is very useful in this respect. You could use a small cedar chest as a coffee or side table and it will provide handy storage too. A place for everything and everything in its place has to be your mantra in a small room.

Choosing Kitchen Bar Stools

When decorating your kitchen you will no doubt want to get everything just right to justify all the money you are spending on the job. The problem is that you are going to be purchasing so many different components that it can become overwhelming and you end up just choosing anything in order to get it over with. The best plan of attack is to break down each area of the kitchen into small compartmentalized sections so that you can work on each individually and empower yourself to get your kitchen finished just the way you like it.

Why not start by choosing the perfect kitchen bar stools around which you can build everything else and end up with a room you can really be proud of?

When choosing kitchen stools you have to be aware of how you want your entire finished kitchen to look so that you get seating that fits in with the overall feel. You wouldn’t want to buy a stool that looks out of place or awkward in its surroundings.

You will also want to think about the size of the room where you are going to place them so you can decide how many stools you can comfortably fit in. Of course the larger the family you have the more stools you are going to need but you don’t want to be trying to squeeze a set of 6 Boston bar stools into a petit city center apartment kitchen.

Give some thought to how you are going to use the stools. Are they mainly going to be for display will they be getting constant use by a family of kids who virtually live in the kitchen? The latest designer models might look great but they can cost a fortune and won;t last long under heavy use.

Finally, try any stool you are thinking of buying beforehand to ensure they are comfortable enough for your needs. If you like to watch TV in teh kitchen you are going to want something that feels nice to sit in for an hour or two.

When you have decided on the perfect kitchen bar stool for your home you can move on to the next area that needs your attention with a better idea of what you need to make the finished product look just the way you want it.
